Omnispawn

Biography:

It's been 8 years since the swedish death metal band Omnispawn released Darkness Within. The awaited follow-up never left the studio back in 2010 and became the band's meltdown…

What was to become Omnispawn started back in 2005 and the band exploded into view in 2009 when releasing the album; Darkness Within, mentioned as a eleven track album of dark and insane metal. The combination of vocalist John Andersson’s brutal voice, guitarists Rickard Wahlberg and Markus Harju’s precision attack and the core-shattering rumble of Charlie Persson in collaboration with Daniel Gadd’s intensive drumming they utilized the notion of aggressive metal in the modern era.

The awaited follow-up was about to come. Omnispawn entered the studio 2010 where the album unfortunately stayed. Great songs were buried and air infected. The band parted ways with John Andersson and eventually split up, focusing on individual paths for the next upcoming years.

Yet eight years of silence does not equal eight years of nothing

“That album - those songs” was a haunting and breathtaking topic every assembly during the silent years and the remaining four members of Omnispawn came to the conclusion around their 10 year anniversary to pick out the best songs from the never-appearing album, put together a EP, call it Embers, featuring five (5) tracks.

The band posted the statement ”Omnispawn will be back 2017” in February, and released Embers a few months later. But the releases this year doesn’t end there. The 25th of November they released the single Phoenix as well, which appears to be their own fight song.

Embers and Phoenix is embodied by the original lineup of Omnispawn with the difference of Rickard Wahlberg’s tortured voice instead of John Andersson’s. Produced, mixed and mastered by the guitarist and music producer Markus Harju and artwork made by the extraordinary painter and artist John Kullman.
